PNG decoded and thresholded to a binary mask on alpha at 128, every ink component above a size floor of 0.05% of the largest kept, crack-followed to outer contours plus enclosed holes, simplified, and filled with the nonzero rule. Traced ink area was compared against the source mask; the ornamental subjects gain up to 2.6% because simplification fattens fine tracery, which does not move the box.
